Unpacking my Collection explores the private art of book collecting.

Embracing Walter Benjamin’s essay ‘Unpacking my Library’ this project applied his theoretical insight and knowledge linking personal identity and book collections, whilst through anecdotes provides insight into the mindset and attitudes of a book collector.

 

Awarded membership into the International Society of Typographic Designers with Commendation.

‘Unpacking my collection’ was a finalist in theNZ Best Awards 2013.

Walter Benjamin’s essay ‘Unpacking my Library’ provides insight into the relationship between a book collector and their books stimulating through for the use of books beyond reading. It provides the conceptual basis from which 'Unpacking my Collection' reflexively develops and investigates.
